Name: Maddie Meyers

Theta Member Class: MC ‘20

Degree: Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication and Spanish

Hometown: St. Louis, MO

Where you live now: On the road!

You work as a “Hotdogger” for Oscar Mayer and have spent the past year driving one of the famous Wienermobiles across the country! What do you love most about this job?

In my role as an Oscar Mayer Hotdogger, I have had the ability to travel to twenty states and meet over two hundred thousand people with the purpose of sharing this joy of a 27-foot-long hotdog on wheels. The most meaningful part of this job is the magic I get to create every day interacting with everyone from 8 to 80 years old. It is incredible to see the power with the Wienermobile has to brighten people’s lives.

You also recently placed first place in the first ever Wienie 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway! Can you share more about this experience and how it felt for you?

Winning the inaugural Wienie 500 is a moment I will cherish forever. We truly made hotdog history, and to share in that joy with my copilot and the community was remarkable. It was also so special to have all six Wienermobiles together at such an iconic place as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

What has been your favorite place you’ve visited in the Wienermobile?

I have encountered so many special places during my year with the Wienermobile, but driving the Wienermobile in downtown New Orleans during the Super Bowl is a memory I will relish forever.

What do you plan to do after your time as a Hotdogger is over?

The travel bug still has a hold of me and I am continuing my adventures backpacking with a couple other Hotdoggers.

What do you miss most about Mizzou?

I miss the constant community of fellow Tigers at Mizzou. Although, I have met many Mizzou alumni across the hotdog highways, and I even had the honor of sitting out the Wienermobile during the Mizzou Homecoming parade this year, sharing my pride and love for this amazing university.

What impact has Theta left on you?

Theta has introduced me to some of the most empowering women who have shown me what it means to be a confident, genuine leader. I am so thankful for the strong relationships I have taken out of this organization and how these women continue to inspire me daily.

Do you have a specific favorite Theta memory?

One of my favorite memories is welcoming home the new members on my last Bid Day dressed as the yellow brick road for the Wizard of Oz! It was so exciting to see the joy on their faces as they ran home.
