Name: Josephine Rempfer
Major: Communication with Environmental Science Minor and HR Certificate
Hometown: Urich, MO
What are your career/life goals?
I would love to work in an upper level HR position in an environmentally based company. I have a huge passion for the environment as someone who grew up in a rural area, so I would love to work for a company that shares a similar passion to mine. I want to live a life that combines my strengths and also my passions to enhance the work I do and the life I live. Additionally, I would love to settle back down in a rural town similar to the one that raised me, and be able to give back and serve their community.
What is your favorite part about your major and why did you choose it?
My favorite part about my major is how applicable I have found it to my daily life. I have always been someone who enjoys communicating with others, public speaking, influencing, and leading, so learning how to enhance and grow these skills within my major has been amazing. I chose this major because I was always surrounded by experiences and positions that worked best with my communicative and problem-solving skills, so I wanted to go into a career field that also used these strengths. I have been able to learn about communicating from multiple different perspectives, and how truly important personal interactions are. I have found this major very versatile to not only my current leadership positions, but my personal life as well.

What are you most excited for about your future career?
I am most excited to be able to work with people and be in a position to encourage and influence others. I truly enjoy leading and working in team collaboration and communication, so I am excited to be able to apply that within my future career.
What organizations or hobbies are you passionate about?
I am involved in a lot of organizations outside of Theta such as AASB, Matchbook Marketing, and currently my most involved, Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis (RAMS). I serve as a director for RAMS which holds a lot of depth in my heart, as the child of a parent with Multiple Sclerosis. I direct both the Community Engagement and Rock-It committees, spreading awareness for Multiple Sclerosis and raising money that goes directly to our clients. Being able to serve for something bigger than myself has been such a blessing.
Outside of my commitments, I enjoy going to the movies, hanging with my friends ,and being on the farm. I love spending any extra time I have with the people I love the most.
How have your experiences in Theta changed you?
Theta has grown me into the best possible version of myself. Since coming to college and joining Theta, I have been able to soar as an individual. I never imagined being around so many supportive and encouraging friends and peers who genuinely push me to my best potential. I have been encouraged to become more involved inside and outside of my chapter, having experiences from all different sources here at Mizzou. Every source to my involvement has stemmed from

a theta in one way or another, through recommendation, inspiration, or connection. It has genuinely become the beacon to who I am today.
What does Theta mean to you?
To me, Theta is more than just a sorority, but a sisterhood and a family. A place to be intellectually, emotionally, and mentally supported by other uplifting and inspiring young women. Theta is home.
Do you have any advice for the underclassmen?
To always commit. It never hurts to try, and you will truly never know what could have been if you don’t. There is a vast lifetime of opportunities and getting out of your comfort zone and saying yes is the best way to seize these moments. I know it is very cliche to say, but seriously, the only thing stopping you from success is you. Believe in yourself, break barriers and do it. Look up to your peers and upperclassmen for guidance and they will be there for you no matter what! At the end of the day, be the role model you always wanted to see and just commit.
Do you have a specific favorite Theta memory?
Rather than a specific moment, working alongside my co-director Caroline Wood for events last year was truly one of the best experiences of my time here. It was so much more than just creating events, but a partnership that turned into a friendship. Our position fostered such a strong bond between us, and allowed me to really see the benefits of having not only a friend but a sister. She will always be very special to me and my time as a Theta!
