Meet Kit Frazen: Our July Leading Woman

Name: Kit Frazen

Major: Strategic Communication

Hometown: Kansas City Mo

What are your career/life goals?

I have always loved all things creative. I would love a career that would allow me to incorporate this. I am really drawn to bright colors and vibrant expressions, so the idea of doing creative marketing for a cosmetic company appeals to me.

What are you involved in at Mizzou?

I have been involved in Mizzou Alternative Breaks since my freshman year. I was lucky enough to serve on the executive board this past year as the Director of Winter Marketing. I am also a co-founder of Mint, which is a student run marketing group. I love being able to work with student entrepreneurs and watching their ideas come to fruition. I also work as a tutor at the Writing Center on campus.

What interested you about the McCann-Erikson?

I really wanted to work with an agency with diverse client base. This summer I’ve worked with American Eagle Outfitters and Kozel Brewery, two very different clients. It’s really an amazing feeling to be working with such knowledgeable mentors in the program. I knew this program would be challenging, and it has pushed me far beyond what I thought I was capable of.

How has this experience changed you?

I would like to think I’ve grown through this experience. I have learned so much from not only the staff at McCann but from my peers. I have learned so much about this field. I wasn’t expecting to learn so much about the different markets and cultures that I’ve been exposed to. I also feel more confident in my professional abilities. It is so easy at this point in life to think that everyone knows what they are doing except for you. This experience really helped me feel more confident in myself in regard to both my leadership abilities and creative abilities.

Where is your favorite place you’ve been with the program?

I really fell in love with Hong Kong. The city itself is beautiful and has such an electric atmosphere. It is a very modern city but with so many traditional Chinese influences.

What are you passionate about?

I have always loved art, but I didn’t know what exactly I liked about it. I love making it, I love looking at other people’s work, and talking about it. This is really why I decided I wanted to go into strategic communication. I really like the idea of being able to communicate a message through visuals.

What does Theta mean to you?

Theta has been such a consistent part of my life at Mizzou. It is the reason I am involved in the things I am. The people I met through Theta have made such a profound impact on my life. I am always pushed to be the best version of myself. Theta has been an incredible support system and I really wouldn’t trade it for anything.

What do you do in your free time?

I love to spend time at Stephens lake park with my dog. I enjoy reading when I have the time. I also love to watch documentaries with my roommate, Annie. I also love to go to Theta for lunch to catch up with gals and consume copious amounts of Theta ranch.
