Kappa Alpha Theta empowers its members and enriches their college experience through commitment to scholarship, sisterhood, service, and personal excellence. At the Alpha Mu chapter, we exemplify these values every day. We encourage our members to learn, develop, and excel through leadership and sisterhood, whether it is on campus, in the classroom, or in the community.

Thetas can be found in many corners of campus. Our members are involved in organizations such as Tour Team, Summer Welcome, Outreach, Student Ministries, MizzouThon, Alumni Association Student Board, Mizzou Alternative Breaks, Mizzou for Malawi, Mizzou Student Foundation, along with many other groups in different academic disciplines. We also have members leading committees for campus wide events such as Homecoming, Greek Week, Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis, and Caring for Columbia. We are very proud to have members annually recognized by the most prestigious groups on campus such as Mizzou ’39, Omicron Delta Kappa, Mystical Seven, and Mortar Board.

In the fall, Theta hosts an annual flag football tournament during our philanthropy week as well as a pancake brunch. In the spring, we host Kicks for CASA, a soccer tournament, and CASA Carnival, a carnival themed event at our home. This past year, our chapter raised over $16,000 for CASA, a court appointed guardian program internationally sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta, and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. With the great passion and imagination of each of our members, we hope to achieve even more in the upcoming years.

Besides our internal philanthropies benefitting CASA and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, we are the only Greek organization to be Partners in Education (PIE) with the Columbia Public School District. This is a mutually beneficial relationship between Thetas and the students at Russell Elementary School in the Columbia Public School District. Through this partnership, our members have the opportunity to serve as classroom assistants. Many members enjoy volunteering at Russell's annual festivals each year as well. This is one way of many that we are able to serve the community with our sisters.

With the challenges brought in 2020, the health and safety of our members has been at the forefront of our minds. Our chapter has worked to facilitate both virtual events and socially distant in person events following the Mizzou and Boone County guidelines. In this year of uncertainty, our members continue to rely on each other during this unprecedented time.

Theta is much more than simply a college experience; it is a home away from home. Theta serves as a place to grow into a woman of intellect and integrity, and to form friendships that reach far beyond the walls of 603 Kentucky Boulevard. The scholarship, leadership, and love that members develop while in Theta will follow them into their future and impact them forever.
