KAPPA ALPHA THETA Alpha Mu Chapter Established 1909 Creating a Legacy of Excellence

Kappa Alpha Theta strives for the “Balanced Woman”.  At Mizzou, we encourage our members to learn, develop, and excel through leadership and sisterhood, whether it is on campus, in the classroom, or in the community.

Thetas are consistently known as leaders across the campus and community.  We have women involved in organizations such as Homecoming, Greek Week, Greeks Going Green, RAMS, GAMMA, Caring for Columbia, Dance Marathon, and Mizzou for Malawi.  Our members serve as steering committee members, as well as directors for many of these organizations.  We are also very proud to have members annually earning some of the most prestigious titles on campus such as Summer Welcome Leaders, Thetas tapped into secret societies, and women selected to Mizzou ’39.

In the fall, Theta gets ready for our immensely popular Pancake Breakfast that lasts into the early hours of the morning at our house.  We also hold annual Fantasy Football, as well as Flag Football, tournaments in September during our philanthropy week.  We additionally have an event, Mi CASA Es Su CASA, which is a late night Mexican dinner at our house as well.  This past year, our house raised around $24,000 for CASA, a court appointed guardian program internationally sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta.  This was an enormous increase from the past.  With the passion and imagination of our members, we hope to achieve even more in the upcoming years.

Besides our internal philanthropy benefitting CASA, Theta also participates in community and Greek-sponsored philanthropies.  We have recently become the first Greeks to be Partners in Education (PIE).  This is a mutually beneficial relationship between Theta and the students at Russell Elementary School in the Columbia Public School District.

Even though we are all hardworking, determined women, we also know how to let loose and have a good time!  Throughout the year, we relax with things such as our annual Sisterhood Week, Semiformal, Valentine’s Day social, Formal and Twin Star socials in March, as well as a “Kite and Key” social with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma.  These are just a few ways we celebrate our sisterhood.

The Theta house is truly a home away from home for its members.  It serves as a place to grow, as well as a place to share and meet friends and sisters that will last a lifetime.  Theta is much more than a college experience.  The scholarship, leadership, and love that members develop while in Theta will follow them into their future and impact them forever.

Theta Love,
